Today’s feast of Saints Perpetua and Felicity carries a valuable lesson in friendship. Class or status need not prevent any of us from befriending another and leaning into the strength of the other’s love and support. Perpetua was a well-educated noblewoman and Felicity a slave, but their common experience of motherhood and their Christian faith drew them together. They were able to support one another even to the point of martyrdom.
May we be truly grateful for those individuals in our lives whose friendship not only supports us but also calls us to be our best and truest self.
Saints Perpetua and Felicity, pray for us.
