Stretched for Healing

Today’s Gospel (Mark 3: 1-6) shares the story of a man with a withered hand in the temple and Jesus’ desire to heal him.

What is it in me that is withered, stale, lifeless?

Jesus calls the man to stand in the middle where he is completely vulnerable and exposed to all. This had to be extremely uncomfortable for one who was accustomed to being in the background and disregarded for his infirmity. Yet, the man trusted and came forth.

Jesus then invited the man to stretch out his hand – an action that would expose him even further.

How am I being called to stretch, try something new, see things from a different perspective?

Jesus deeply desires to heal me and bring me wholeness. I need only to place my trust in Him.
