As I continue to pray for peace and for all those affected by the terrible violence in Ukraine, I can be tempted to feel quite powerless. What difference could my meager prayers make in such a vast and complex situation? And yet, God calls me to do my small part in building a culture of peace in the world.
A young teenage girl in Nazareth seemed small. A tiny baby born in a manger seemed small. Five loaves in the face of five thousand hungry people seemed small. A group of eleven frightened men locked in an upper room seemed small.
What if I committed to building a bridge of trust and peace with just one other person today? And another, tomorrow? And another, the next day? My efforts may be small, but they are significant.
