A walk through Oak Openings at this time of year can be a great reminder of life coming forth from what is seemingly dead. At first glance, I may see only the fallen trees and the dead underbrush, but there is more. If I look carefully, there are small signs of green attempting to push through the dead debris.
Some of the trees that have fallen or been cut down have been down for a long time, and some of them just recently. They can be a good reminder of the losses I’ve experienced along the way. The losses are real, but if I focus only on them, I will miss the new growth about to burst forth.
The small green sprouts persistently remind me of God’s faithful love. He will not abandon me. He will not allow death to triumph. He will raise my spirit to new life.
