When I pray the mysteries of the rosary, I choose where I place the emphasis. Is my focus on me, or is it on God?
In the mystery of the Presentation of Our Lord in the temple, I can focus on the Gift brought by Mary and Joseph. They brought Jesus. They brought two pigeons, the sacrifice of the poor. They brought all they had.
In the real mystery of the Presentation, God takes their Gift and affirms that Jesus is already consecrated, set apart, and holy. It is God’s action that makes all the difference.
At times, when I experience my inadequacy and poverty, the little I have to offer, I can trust in the overwhelming mercy and love of God to take my gift of self and do great things. I need to show up, to offer what I have, and to stand back and experience all that God can do.
