Today we celebrate the feast of Saints Louis and Zélie Martin, parents of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux. Canonized together in 2015, they model for the Church the importance of living our vocation fully and wholeheartedly in order to grow in holiness. Their living and modeling the faith, even in times of great suffering, nurtured a strong faith in their children. Their five daughters (four other children died in infancy or very young) give witness to a home life in which God was at the center of each day.
The faith lived by Louis and Zélie is accessible to all, rooted in the present moment and offering the ordinary “stuff” of life to be transformed by God’s love. May they intercede for us the graces we most need to live the holiness to which we are called. Saints Zélie and Louis, pray for us.
