At the very beginning, we are told that God walked in intimacy with Adam and Eve in the garden. After they turned away from Him in sin, however, they hid themselves, fearful and full of shame.
In today’s Gospel, we are once again in a garden. This time, Mary Magdalene does not hide from God. In fact, she seeks Jesus and longs to be with Him. Mary recognizes her sinfulness and vulnerability, AND she knows His death and Resurrection make it possible for her to grow in intimacy with Him.
Jesus, I seek You. I long to hear You call my name. I desire to be with You and have You transform my sinfulness by Your saving grace and mercy. Help me to keep my eyes fixed on You today and every day.
