Mary’s Immaculate Conception

The archangel Gabriel exclaims Mary to be “full of grace” (Luke 1:28).

It is through the merits of Christ Jesus that Mary receives this extraordinary and singular grace. Mary is preserved from all stain of original sin from the first moment of her conception.

The Fathers of the Church teach that Mary’s fullness of grace is the fundamental mark of her human nature and daily living. Every aspect of her being shines with the splendor of the perfect harmony with which God originally desired to mark all humanity. Through the merits of Christ she also was free from all actual sin and from every moral imperfection, feeling no disordered attractions toward sin (concupiscence).

It is with infinite love that God prepared the one who would be the Mother of His Son.
