The Saints, Us and the Eucharist (11/16)

There is another way our dearly departed beloved ones are present with us.

They are close to every tabernacle in which the Holy Eucharist is reserved and to every altar upon which Mass is offered.

As Catholics we dare to assert that Christ Jesus said what He meant and meant what His said. Thus, we confidently profess that the Risen Lord Jesus is wholly, completely and perfectly in the Holy Eucharist – Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity (cf. 1 Corinthians. 10:16–17, 11:23–29; and, most forcefully, John 6:32–71).

So, too, is the power of His Resurrection present in the Holy Eucharist and made available to us, unworthy as we always remain, every time we partake of His Body and Blood. .

Friends, all the souls in heaven – the saints – are present alongside the Risen Lord Jesus Who reigns as King of the Universe. They are perfectly present adoring and loving Jesus and also loving those of us who still remain this side of heaven every time we gather in faith around our Blessed Lord in the Holy Eucharist.

The holy ones present to us in this real and mysterious way are those who love us the most, who are dearest to us and who adore Jesus alongside us.
