Christian as Soul of Prayer

Jesus expects His followers to spend time with Him and to talk regularly and comfortably with Him. Prayer is our on-going conversation with God. Saint Therese of Lisieux, the Little Flower of Jesus, describes prayer more poetically: “For me, prayer is a surge of the heart; it is a simple look turned toward heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy.”

A genuine Christian is a soul of prayer.

Resist temptations to make your way to God only as a desperate act of last resort. How is it with the people you love most? Do you ignore, neglect and reject them, only to flee to them for help in a panic like state when all else is lost? No! Those whom we love the most are constantly in our conversations and always in our mind and hearts. We spend time with them. There is an ease and familiarity that marks our conversation with them. Those whom we love the most are ever present. So it can be with God. Indeed, for the genuine Christian, it simply is.
