CELEBRATING PENTECOST

In the Old Testament, the People of God celebrated a FIFTIETH DAY FEAST.  Known as SHAVOUT, this sacred event commemorated the descent of God’s Law to Moses on Mount Sinai fifty days after the Exodus commenced.

Fifty days after the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit descended on the apostles and first disciples whereby grace-filled life was breathed into the community of believers and the Church of Christ was initiated.

The Christian FEAST OF PENTECOST occurred ten days after the Ascension of our Lord Jesus into heaven.

In biblical numerology, 50 is the perfect number: 7×7 +1 for the day itself.
