ASKING AND GIVING

We spend a good part of our lives asking. We ask for things from people who have more than we have. We ask others for certain things because we need spirutal and material goods.

Similarly we are asked by others for goods we have that they do not.

So it is with our relationship with God. A large part of our relationship with Him is shaped by our asking Him for what we need and thanking Him for what He gives us. Asking God makes us humble and inspires greater trust and dependence on Him. Also, asking God to give us our daily bread gives Him the chance to show us that He truly is Our Father.

There are so many good things God wants to give us. They become available to us by means of our humbly asking Him. Of course, then we are expected to share God’s blessings joyfully and generously with others.
