Saints Timothy & Titus – Jan 26

Titus and Timothy were close friends of Saint Paul. Titus was given responsibility for the Church on Crete while Saint Paul placed Timothy in charge of the Church in Ephesus. While under house arrest in Rome, Saint Paul wrote letters to both of these bishops urging them especially to preserve the deposit of faith which they had received.

The truths of the faith are entrusted by one generation to another. They are not the results of human reasoning but proceed directly from God. Intentional disciples avail themselves of opportunities to grow in their understanding and practice of what the Church professes to be true.

The main Church teachings – dogmas – liken buoys that mark the route for safe passage through a perilous channel. Outside these trustworthy limits there is a real and present risk of running aground. Stated differently, to ignore these truths places one’s self in danger.

The truths of our faith supply needed light for healthier and happier daily living.
