Feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica 11/9/14

Ezekiel 47:1-2, 8-9, 12

From the beginning, God intended places of worship to stand as symbols of His Church and reminders of His providential care. God’s prototypical building is the Jerusalem Temple, described by the prophet as God’s “holy dwelling” and special site of the divine presence in our midst, source of “living waters” – of all life and blessing.

John  2:13-22

Jesus is more than a passionate devotee of the ancient Jewish Temple or a reformer who will replace a corrupt Temple. He is the living Temple of God among us.
