Thy Will Be Done

Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

This part of the well-know prayer Jesus instructs all His followers to pray (cf. Luke11;  Matthew 6), transforms our desires into His desire. After all prayer changes us. I suppose that is why people don’t pray, including far too many who think they can be a Christian apart from being a person of daily prayer. When prayed daily and sincerely, this power-packed part of the Our Father results in our meeting Jesus joyfully. That is what happens when we only want what Jesus wants. It can be said that this prayer is at the very heart of all Christian prayer; namely, that we identify ourselves ever more with Jesus and the divine will (cf. John 3:30).
