THIRD SUNDAY OF ADVENT

In prison JOHN THE BAPTIST sends his own disciples to JESUS to ask this question of Him in today’s Gospel: “Are you the one who is to come or should we look for another?” (Matthew 11:3). Perhaps the inquiry was not so much for John himself as much as John wanted those closest to him to recognize and follow the Messiah of God, Jesus Christ.

Genuine Christians always seek to place the needs of others before their own. There are many ways we can do this in our daily living: a smile, a kind word, recognition and praise, refusing to make a fuss over unimportant things that better are overlooked and forgotten. In these ways we make life easier for the people around us and help them to discover the cause of our own joy: Jesus.
