Today’s readings for Mass all sound the call to LOOK FORWARD.

The opponent seeks to rob of us of joy by tempting us to live in the past.  Previous sins riddle us with anxiety, fear and shame and, if unforgiven, quickly can become a relentless preoccupation. So, too, can the sins and injustices of others assail our minds and hearts similarly entrapping and ensnaring us.

Sins are inexcusable. That is, sins always and everywhere are wrong, offensive to God and injurious to ourselves and others.

However, sins are forgiveable. God’s mercy is the balm that heals the rupture with God, self and others. DIVINE MERCY redirects our sights from the past so that we instead look forward.
