Saint Ignatius (7/31)

Saint Ignatius of Loyola (+1556) first recounts being swept away by the pursuit of vainglory through military prowess. Injury gave him the occasion to read books during his long convalescence, one of which was about the life of Christ Jesus and another depicting the lives of saints. These books marked the invasion of grace and resulted in Ignatius unexpectedly being seized by a new holy desire.

A good spiritual book likens a trustworthy friend. It helps make known God’s plan and inspires us to make God’s plan as our own way of living.

Saint Ignatius, pray for us!
