Pilgrims’ Progress (3/13)

To progress in the spiritual life, we must know ourselves. We have to consider our sins, our weak points and our selfish tendencies along with identifying our victories in virtue, our favorable results and our inclinations to good.

The daily EXAMEN helps rid the soul of everything that might obstruct or delay its journey to God and helps accelerate its pace toward Him.

Just as we gather facts to learn about an unfamiliar place which we are setting out to find, in the same way it is impossible to make meaningful progress in the spiritual journey without gathering the facts, thoughtfully preparing and really committing.

Finally, it is an excellent practice to examine ourselves from God’s point of viewinstead of our own, asking ourselves if God is pleased with us and how He will judge our conduct.
