This Sunday we will hear the short Gospel account of Jesus visiting Martha and Mary (Luke 10:38-42).
Committed Christians experience increasing desires for solitude and generosity. Committed communities of believers – parishes – witness the same. Sadly, such can be especially difficult to find.
Intentional disciples want to pray silently, to sit at the feet of Our blessed Lord listening to Him, to savor the absolute delights of intimate union with God. The same serious followers of Christ revel in opportunities to share inexpressible Love with others, to help others praise God more.
Solitude fuels generosity. Generosity fuels solitude.
Stated differently, love of God and love of neighbor always and everywhere are the very same love.
