Making Ordinary Extraordinary (9/8)

Mary is born and the world fails to notice. Even in the Gospels, nary a word is spoken about her birth.

All too often humanity fails to notice what is most important for God. This happens even though what is important for God is essential for us.

All Israel eagerly awaits the arrival of the young woman whose Son will be the Messiah, God with us (Isaiah 7:14). Even so, Mary’s early years are marked by obscurity. She simply goes about her duties and routines trusting wholeheartedly in God’s Word and knowing her ordinary work always happens in the presence of God.

Look to Mary. Imitate her by performing your daily tasks without garnering attention, completing what you set out to do and avoiding the allurement of attaining special privileges.

Like Mary, dare to make the most ordinary of actions the very opportunities for encountering Christ Jesus the Lord. Doing little things done with great love always pleases God.
