Loving Even Enemies (9/10)

There is no finer hour for us to love God and to love neighbors than right now. Regarding Jesus’ instructions for the latter, He demands that our love extends to everyone; that means all those who are friendly and rude, generous and stingy, pleasant and abrasive.

“Love your enemies, do good to them.” (Luke 6:35)

Why couldn’t Jesus instead have said something like, “loving your friends is enough and doing good to your ememies is extra-credit?”

Only helping those who help us hardly reflects the whole of Jesus’ life. After all, even pagans love those who love them.
