Lenten Practices (2/27)

They were known as “two-a-days” and signaled the beginning of football season as well as the end of summer. We would practice twice a day – early in the morning and then later in the day. The extra effort was for conditioning that needed to happen to prepare ourselves well for the games in the fall.

The season of Lent is marked by three traditional biblical practices – prayer, fasting and almsgiving. We are meant to do these things for the next 40 days to ready ourselves for Easter.
