Imitating Jesus (12/10)

It truly amazes me how immensely patient Jesus always remains with the defects of His disciples! He repeats the same teaching unhurriedly over and over, explaining it clearly, calmly and concisely  hoping only that His slow-minded and easily distracted friends will accept His saving Presence and Power. He never loses patience with their obtusemenss and failures to grasp His meaning.

The way to cure our impatience, our negative attitude, our impulsive temper and our failure to be understanding and accepting is to imitate Jesus. His calm and welcoming spirit will be born and develop in us in exact proportion to our efforts to remember His words and actions in the midst of our daily activities.

In the Advent time remaining, let us labor especially to speak and act in ways that people will see that don’t merely know about Jesus but rather that we truly know Him.

Christ the King
