Grow With Us
Intentional disciples grow.
“The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark.”
Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni
God has made each of us for Himself. Advancing closer toward God happens more by actual choices than by pious feelings. With God’s grace we can overcome defects and failings and so come to experience the fulfillment, meaning and happiness God has created us to discover. Resist mediocrity and avoid indifference. Instead, dare “to strive eagerly for the greatest spiritual gifts.
Resolve to want to become a saint. God does not demand more from us than our best effort. Seek God in all things. Holiness happens by permitting God to set us apart for His great glory and honor and for the benefit of others. Even if we don’t immediately see progress in ourselves, God is pleased by our sincere effort to grow in faith, hope and love.
“The only real sadness, the only real failure, the only great tragedy in life, is not to become a saint.”
Little things stand to make big differences: smiling at a passerby, doing chores for another cheerfully, expressing thankfulness when someone is kind. Small acts of love, especially toward those with whom we don’t get along effortlessly, to teach us how to love. We learn to love by loving.
“This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
“Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.”
“I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing.”
“Do not conform yourselves to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect.”
