God’s Grace Always Bears Fruit (1/27)

Jesus said, “This is how it is with the kingdom of God; it is as if a man were to scatter seed on the land” (Mark 4:26).

In today’s short parable our blessed Lord explains the seed of God’s Word sown in the hearts of every person has the capacity to grow and bring forth impressive fruit. It is for each of us, however, to hear, receive and take it to heart. That is, to let God’s Word dwell in our minds and influence our decisions, avoiding temptations to set it aside for a later moment more convenient and comfortable.

Friends, God’s opportunities do not wait! How vital it is to be docile to the inspirations of the Holy Spirit as they happen. Mature Christians expect the Holy Spirit, the Lord the Giver of Life, to offer necessary inspiration. They enter the day longing to recognize God’s beauty, they anticipate beholding God’s goodness and they ready themselves to be empowered by divine truth.

As we are faithful to God at the beginning of the day, we are more likely to receive His help throughout the day. One grace leads to another.

Begin each day asking for this to take place. Let this heartfelt plea be the first moment of your day. Starting with God heightens the likelihood of making the most of His help throughout the day. Make a morning offering right away and avail yourself of God’s help right away by presenting the day to God for His greater glory and honor.

As an example, Saint Thérèse  of Lisieux, the Little Flower of Jesus, humbly and confidently whispered these words to start her day:

O my God! I offer Thee all my actions of this day for the intentions and for the glory of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. I desire to sanctify every beat of my heart, my every thought, my simplest works, by uniting them to Its infinite merits; and I wish to make reparation for my sins by casting them into the furnace of Its Merciful Love.

O my God! I ask of Thee for myself and for those whom I hold dear, the grace to fulfill perfectly Thy Holy Will, to accept for love of Thee the joys and sorrows of this passing life, so that we may one day be united together in heaven for all Eternity. Amen.

Living every day as God’s great gift to us makes all the difference.
