Mary and Joseph joyfully recount the astonishing events of God’s provident care – safe passage to Bethlehem, the birth and healthy child, choirs of angels, shepherd admirers, mysterious adorers from the Orient. The Son of God Himself crying, sleeping and cooing in their own very arms! Then, having been told by God to leave Bethlehem right away, they hurriedly prepare for yet another unexpected journey frought with toils and dangers (cf. Matthew 2:13).
Sincerely seeking God does not make for a journey across the earthly stage that is free from pains and pressures. What God does promise us, however, is the calmness and confidence to face them and pass through them safely.
