The two essential conditions to be united perfectly with God are found in their fullness in Mary.
The first condition is that there be not even the slightest trace of self-will. That is, that there are no earthly attachments leading us to acquire wealth, power, pleasure and honor, nothing – no thing – moving us to declare independence from Jesus as our blessed Lord, Savior and Messiah.
The second condition is a consequence of the first. Namely, that our will be moved in all, and through all, and only by God’s Will.
These two conditions are displayed perfectly in the most pure soul of Mary. She never has even the faintest shadow of an attachment to herself, insisting upon her way, her plan, her desire. Mary’s life is completely emptied and given to the rule of God.
“May it be done to me according to Your Word” (Luke 1:38).
Mary’s soul is freed from worldly impressions threatening to repel her from God’s Love. Because Mary is completely immersed within the infinite reservoir of divine love, she only is able to act under the aegis of the Holy Spirit and the power of the Most High (cf. Luke 1:35).
Today on this splendid feast of Mary’s Immaculate Conception, we humbly and confidently ask Mary to pray with us and pray for us as we strive for our lives to be moved by Love Alone.
