Feast Day ǀ Saint Matthew (9/21)

Saint Matthew the Apostle was born in Capernaum in Galilee. One day when he was working as a tax collector, Our Lord Jesus called him to be one of the Twelve Apostles.

While writing the Gospel that bears his name, Saint Matthew undoubtedly relishes the memory of so many occasions in close contact with Jesus. How different it all would have been if he had remained sullenly at his tax collecting post.

Jesus draws nears us all and invites us to follow Him closely and confidently. Our life experiences meaning and fulfillment in relation to our response to live it in union with Christ and to seek His grace with each passing day.
