Championing Justice and Bringing Peace (12/29)

Our Lord Jesus brings us a way of life which, if put into practice, is capable of completely and permanently changing lives. He tells us we all are children of God. Therefore, we are brothers and sisters to one another. God gives us the goods of the earth expecting us to use them well. That means, for the genuine benefit of all, not a privileged few. The teachings of the Church of Christ have brought about great societal gains: the abolition of slavery, the lifting  and championing of womens’ dignity, the protection of the disadvantaged and marginalized, the caring of the sick and disabled. These are only a few of the real and lasting consequences of daring to see the inherit connectedness of people resulting from Christian Faith.

Intentional disciples of Jesus Christ passionately seek to lessen sufferings and alleviate injustices. The love of Christ compells us to do so. Living truly as God’s children inspires us to be the instruments of justice and peace God expects us to be. Daring to practice the Gospel demands in our personal lives, in our families, at work and in our social interactions brings about changes that better the lives of people. Our Lord arrives in a stable. Can there be a beginning any more ordinary and humble?
