Genuine Christians pursue an ever-deepening and more meaningful friendship with Jesus. Authentic followers of Christ Jesus simply are driven to recognize Jesus in their ordinary experience. That is, they expect Jesus to reveal Himself in all those whom they encounter and in every situation.
It is not as much that they know about Jesus, but rather they know Him personally.
In this way, we clearly see that Christian living is so much more than merely waging battle against sin. It is the response of Jesus’ own request for our love.
“Remain in my love” (John 15:9).
So, then, as personal friends of Jesus:
- Do we spread joy around us or are we more inclined to pour out our irritability and our sadness?
- Do we seek to see Jesus when we are labored and burdened or are we more likely to unload on others our bad humor and our anxieties?
- Do we grasp that Jesus expects us to be instruments of peace, hope and joy?
