Palm Sunday signals the beginning of Holy Week.
Holy means to be set apart for a sacred purpose.
It is common place for everyone to apart items that are especially meaningful. With the death of my father items belonging to him are even important to me than ever before. So much so that I have certain items set apart from all others to remind me of him with hopes that others who see these pictures and momentoes will ask about him.
Holy week is not so much our setting ourselves apart from others as much as it is sincerely asking God to set us apart for His glorious designs. These have everything to do with our surrending to God’s love – not earning God’s favor. Throughout these days, God deeply desires to set us apart from all that is ungodly so to be more closely connected with Him.
Holy week involves our daring to utter “Thy will be done” – and really meaning it.
