It is easy to be faithful to God when everything is going smoothly, when God’s cause is victorious. However, in the darkest hour, when all seems lost, when for a moment God permits evil an upper hand, when all that is right and good seems swept away and lost, then is fidelity not only hard but it gives rise to the most powerful proof of genuine love.
Today – Holy Saturday – marks the transition between the agony of Friday and the glory of Jesus’ Resurrection.
