Love beyond all telling moves Jesus to accept His Passion. He does not evade His enemies, but freely gives Himself into their hands.
Recall during His arrest Jesus having stated that He chosen He could have summoned legions of angels to defend Him. Instead He permits them to take and bind Him without resistance. Later, when allowing Himself to stand before the Roman governor He does not hesitate to speak truthfully: “You would have no power over me if it had not been given to you from above” (John 19:11).
Jesus is the victim. Willingly sacrificed for us and for our salvation.
Love alone.
