We want to become saints but in the easiest way possible. We are all for practicing virtue, but up to a certain point that does not require us to go against the grain.
Our advancing in holiness depends going beyond where we currently are. Adversity stretches our faith, hope and love. Without challenge, we will be mediocre or worse. We do not know what we can really do until we are challenged to go beyond where we are.
Beg the saints whom we honor today to help us overcome laziness, comfort, ease and cowardice. Let us ask those who have shown us the demanding way of holiness to obtain for us the strength to follow them.
God offers us the same grace which He gave to the saints. It is left to us to receive it and live forth from it.
