Christians hold tender love for the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God, who is joined by an inseparable bond to the saving work of her beloved Son.
- Every Marian feast – just like every special saint remembrance – is fundamentally a declaration about Christ Jesus. The early Christians explain that Mary and all the other saints liken the moon which always reflects the sun. Their lives acclaim the love of God. Their greatness is God’s glory revealed.
- Every Marian feast – just like every special saint remembrance – is given to us by the Church so that we will ponder what is revealed about Christ Jesus the Lord. In this way, they are as windows through which we peer to see divine glory anew in our daily living.
- Mary – just like every other saint – recognizes that everything is a gift from God. She permits herself to be loved entirely by God in Christ. All is grace!
- Mary is the concrete image of all the Church desires and hopes to be, exalting and upholding the primacy of God’s Word.
- Mary represents everything that each of us ought to be: totally dedicated to the Lord God, wholly attentive to words and actions of Christ Jesus, and seeking only to walk humbly with God.
Every time we pray Sacred Scripture and repeat the words of God’s messenger, “Hail, Mary” we assert that Mary herself is the fruit of the redemptive action of Christ; that she is joined to Jesus because she received everything from Him.
