Waking With Purpose (3/2)

Intentional disciples of Jesus Christ earnestly seek to know God’s Will in all things. It does not matter if it be lesser or greater issue, the desire is to know what God wants done. All the difference is made when our task throughout the day is to respond to God’s Will in a prompt and cheerful manner.

Our chances to live this way are far more likely when we overcome laziness in our first waking moment. Saint Jose Maria Escriva +1975) calls it the “heroic minute”. When it is time to get up, do so without hesitation. After all, the sacrifice in doing so has only positive effects by strengthening our will and does no harm to our body.

Do I really need to know the sports score or the election result or the overnight Facebook posts or the weather before I first rise and offer my entire day to God?
