FEAST: Saint Andrew (11/30)

As Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter, and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea; they were fishermen. He said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.” At once they left their nets and followed him. (Matthew 4:18-20)

There is a zeal and joy that marks intentional disciples. Excuses brought about by clinging instead to desires for wealth, power, pleasure and honor no longer delay their coming to know Jesus as a friend.  They only want in their lives what gives God glory, what is pleasing to God.

Jesus is the same now as then. Like Andrew, Jesus invites us to accompany Him. Rid whatever excuses stand in your way of responding obediently and cheerfully to Jesus.
