Basilica of the Sacred Heart
All are welcome to join us for the Little Flower Parish annual pilgrimage on Friday October 4, 2024 as we travel to the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana.
The Basilica of the Sacred Heart contains one of the largest collections of late nineteenth-century French stained glass outside of France, with forty-four large stained-glass windows containing two hundred and twenty scenes.
Visit The Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, a reproduction of the famous Grotto in Lourdes, France, where the Virgin Mary is said to have appeared to Saint Bernadette in 18581. The Notre Dame Grotto, built in 1896, is one-seventh the size of the original2. View the famous Word of Life (Touch Down Jesus) mural.
- 8:15 am: Gather at LF: parking lot on the church side
- 8:30 am: Depart for South Bend, Indiana
- 11:00 am: Arrival at Sacred Heart Basilica
- 11:30 am: Celebration of Mass
- 12:15 pm: Lunch
- 1:15 pm: Guided Tour of The Basilica
- 2:00 pm: Free time
- 3:00 pm: Board Bus for departure with a quick stop at the bookstore.
Registration
Registration required no later than September 27, 2024.
$45 per person includes transportation on Motorcoach bus, celebration of mass, tour, time for prayer and spiritual reflection, and fellowship. Free will offering at the Basilica. Gratuity for driver collected on bus.
NOTE: Lunch is not included, encouraged to bring your own lunch / beverage in the interest of time constraints. Small coolers are encouraged and welcomed on the bus. There will be opportunity to purchase lunch at local vendors in LaFortune Student center where we will enjoy lunch as a group.
