True Treasure (6/22)

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and decay destroy, and thieves break in and steal. But store up treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor decay destroys, nor thieves break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.” (Matthew 6:19-21).

Jesus teaches that our heart is made for God. God Himself is the one real and absolute treasure and He has made us to know Him, love Him and serve Him. We are wired for God all-the-while ungodly temptations try to lead us to what never will satisfy and bring lasting joy.

  • To what / to whom do I give my heart?
  • What do I especially value?
  • Where does is my time and interest spent most?
  • What consumes me?

Where our own treasure lies we experience the greatest capacity to sacrifice and to love. Don’t settle for fool’s gold – seek Jesus in everything and everyone.
