In today’s Gospel, the evangelist Luke is inspired to explain that, “Jesus departed to the mountain to pray” (Luke 6:12).
Those who pattern their lives after Jesus and dare to pray faithfully without losing heart become the very pillars preventing the collapse of the whole world.
Prayer fortifies us. It helps us to see things more clearly. It empowers us to live more truthfully and authentically. It enables us to grow in our love of God and concern for others.
How well we all will pray today if we approach God as it it were our final conversation with Him.
