The word LENT means “lengthening”. It refers to the lengthening of days as sunlight incrementally grows this time of year.
So, too, does the Church in Her love for us provide the splendid season of grace to lengthen our daily encounter with Christ Jesus the Lord.
God is looking for a sincere and honest heart within us, a heart that acknowledges its weaknesses and sins and is committed to leaving them behind. In this manner, Lent is not about what we do as much as who we become.
A clean heart create for me, God; renew within me a steadfast spirit. (Psalm 51:12)
