Holy Week – Holy Thursday (3/29)

“No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (John 15:13).

  • Are people around us able know that we are disciples of Christ by the patient, kind and generous way we befriend them?
  • Do others notice us sincerely and regularly trying to practice charity in everthing we think, say and do?
  • When we treat others poorly and disrespectfully are we wanting and willing to make things up with them?
  • Do our personal interactions display interest, courtesy, gratitude and encouragement?

For genuine followers of Jesus Christ – intentional disciples – these features hardly are exceptional, but practiced in the ordinary circumstances of everyday living.  And not merely as individuals. Jesus expects these characteristics clearly to be seen and experienced in every domestic church – home and family – as well as larger communities of faith like parishes.
