In the Gospel narrative Bartholomew sometimes is called Nathaniel. He is a good friend of Philip from whom he first learns about Jesus.
“Philip found Nathaniel and told him, ‘We have found the one about whom Moses wrote in the law, and also the prophets, Jesus, son of Joseph, from Nazareth’” (John 1:45).
Jesus calls Nathaniel through Philip. How often God reveals Himself through others!
‘Philip said to him [Nathanael], ‘Come and see’” (v. 46).
