“Say to the fearful of heart: Be strong, do not fear!” (Isaiah 35:4)
Scripture asserts that fear is the greatest obstacle to faith. Sometimes, it is fear of what others will think of us. Other times, it is a fear of changing my way of living. Still other times, it is a fear of what God might be asking me to do.
Fear closes minds and harden hearts. It makes it difficult to hear the truth and still more difficult to speak it.
How do we overcome the grip of fear? Permit Jesus to speak personally and directly to you the words He pronounced to miraculous effect in Sunday’s Gospel: “be opened!” (Mark 7:34).
