Communicating With The Dead (11/16)

“I will spend my heaven doing good on earth” (Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, +1897).

Extending far beyond the saintly Carmelite, this beautiful truth undeniably includes all those beloved ones whom we lovingly believe to have been received into God’s everlasting mercy.

The dead know us. They know the world they have left.  They know this through their relationship with the Christ Jesus the Victorious King. Their proximity to Him enables them to contemplate His eternal reign! Thus, they know our struggles and sufferings – as He knows them all – and they speak about our mortal plight among themselves and with our Blessed Lord.

Parents, children, spouses, relatives and close friends all speak to God about us. They eagerly present our heartfelt intentions and our pressing problems to Him.  In heaven they keep their intentions and affections along with their interests in the things that matter most our side of eternity, the things which also interest us. They pray for us so that these interests and intentions by means of divine grace will help to perfect us and allow us one day to see God as His is and become like Him for all the ages and praise Him without end.
