We Belong to Another (8/27)

You also were put to death to the law through the body of Christ, so that you might belong to another, to the one who was raised from the dead in order that we might bear fruit for God (Romans 7:4).

Before baptism, we belonged to the devil as slaves. However, baptism made us in very truth slaves to Christ Jesus the Lord. Thus we rightly labor to live, to work and to die for the sole task of bring forth fruit for Christ, glorifying Him in our body and letting Him reign supremely in our souls.

Christ has won the victory for us. We are His conquest, the people whom He has saved, His heritage.

Of course, it is one thing to belong to Christ and quite another to live for Him.

Is there an especially stubborn attachment to a particular sin that I need to set aside right now?
